Conversis is currently looking for a full time IT and localisation development manager to be based full time at our office in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

Purpose
To contribute to and continue to improve the localisation processes deployed by Oxford Conversis. To advise on and carry out web and product localisation projects cost–effectively, efficiently and to the highest standards in the industry. This will involve the effective selection and co ordination of human resources and technical tools.
In addition, this is the lead technology role in the business and as such the job holder will influence IT strategy and be responsible for the selection and implementation of the appropriate solution. The technology challenges facing Conversis are numerous and this is the key role in ensuring our systems infrastructure is well placed to allow us to compete in the localisation industry of the next decade.
There will also be some web and network responsibilities.
Scope
All aspects of Product and Web localisation including, but not limited to:
• Localising, testing, debugging of software, web sites, and multimedia products.
• Assessing, managing and implementing a wide range of localisation tools.
• Corporate websites.
• Portals.
• Quotation tools.
• Various workflow management systems.
• Machine translation systems and solutions.
Nature of Role
The role is the key technical role in the production team and the company. The jobholder will work at all times within the aims and values outlined in our Vision and Mission statements.
The jobholder will become our technical expert, using the human and technological resources available to complete most effectively the project or task to the mutual benefit of Oxford Conversis Ltd and the client.
Primary Objectives
• Project Analysis
• Identification of best localisation solution and selection, co-ordination and control of human and technical resources to achieve the successful completion of projects and jobs
• Client Consultation
• Localisation supplier selection, assessment and control, plus price negotiation
• Overall technical responsibility for assigned projects
• Define and document technical specifications, quality processes and improvement plans
• Sign-off deliveries, quality checks, localisation kits
• Technical contact for customers regarding project specifics
• Drive development activities within projects
• Prepare instructions/localisation kits for translators and other technical suppliers
• Evaluate, use and support localisation tools
• Test and debug localised web sites and multimedia products
• Compile, test and debug localised software
• Quality control of localisation work delivered by suppliers
• Meet agreed deadlines
Personal Skills
➢ Highly motivated with BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
➢ Excellent team worker.
➢ Excellent process management skills, strong customer orientation and good communication skills.
➢ Enthusiastic about new technologies.
➢ Proactive, with demonstrated analytical, problem solving & organisational skills

Technical Skills
The ideal candidate should cover as many as possible of the following fields:
• Min. 4 years in localisation engineering, 1 - 2 years as engineering team lead or line manager.
• Technical process design and troubleshooting.
• An understanding of QA processes and methodology.
• Proficiency in Windows XP/Vista environments.
• Knowledge of other O/S such as UNIX/Linux and MAC an advantage.
• Experience in a programming language such as C/C++, VB, Java or scripting languages such as VBScript/JavaScript, or PHP, ASP an advantage.
• Proficiency with Help compilers.
• Experience with Web page localisation techniques and knowledge of HTML, XML.
• Solid working knowledge of Unicode and multibyte character sets.
• Solid working knowledge of Software localisation tools (Developer Studio, Catalyst, Passolo or similar tools)
• Solid experience with DLLs, resource files, installers.
• Knowledge of foreign languages and experience with foreign operating systems.
